Junior Tennis Lessons
Making Aces prides itself on its ability to produce top class junior tennis players.
Junior tennis coaching is based on five things:
- Strategy and tactics of tennis
- Building the technical foundations
- Being mentally prepared
- Getting physically active, and most importantly...
- Enjoying the game!
We have group and individual tennis coaching to suit all standards and ages. The junior tennis coaching programme is split into four categories:
1. Red Ball Tennis 4-6 years The Red ball group is the beginning of a long and wonderful journey through tennis. The group has a strong sense of fun in every activity that takes place. This is our chance to get kids to fall in love with tennis. Basic hitting, motor skills, agility, balance and co-ordination, throwing, catching and bags of fun.
1.Orange Ball Tennis 7-8 years Played with compressed balls (to reduce risk of injury and encourage longer rallies) and a reduced court size, Orange Ball tennis is a fantastic introduction to tennis for 5 to 8 year olds. Sessions are based around learning to love tennis. The content comprises agility, balance and coordination work, motor skills, basic ball hitting and fun games.
2.Green Ball Tennis 9-10 years Played with slightly compressed balls (to reduce risk of injury and encourage more point construction) on a normal sized court, Green Ball tennis is great stepping stone for players who are ready to progress from Orange Ball tennis or who are starting tennis but are older than 8 years of age. Sessions are based around learning to play the game, incorporating basic technical skills and match play tactics.
3.’Shot Making’ 10 years+ Played with standard Tennis balls, Shot Making offers an opportunity to juniors (10yrs +), who have not received much tennis coaching before, to receive expert tuition in the fundamentals of tennis. ‘Shot Making’ focuses on technical fundamentals and an introduction to match play. A fantastic starter for older children.
4.Yellow Ball Tennis 10 years+ Played with standard tennis balls, Yellow Ball tennis is a dynamic drills session. It focuses on advanced match play tactics, physical drills and competitive match play. Players must have a British Tennis Rating to participate.
